French Cassettes
French Cassettes
French Cassettes are a four-piece indie pop band whose recent release, "Summer Darling", is not only easy on the ears but also serves as a clear statement of their upbeat intentions. In the few years that French Cassettes have been together, they have made a significant impact on both the local and national scene. With their roots in Ripon, California, a small central valley town, and currently based in San Francisco, French Cassettes have won numerous area music awards and competitions including the famed Hayward Battle of the Bands. They were also voted into the final four of a nation-wide Myspace contest competing against thousands of bands. With a fun and energetic live show, don’t let the danceable pop sound fool you, these boys take their craft seriously and are ready to prove their commitment to both causal and dedicated listeners.
Coast Jumper
Coast Jumper
“Fuck it, the Super 8’s are too expensive.”

Coast Jumper forwent the luxury of dingy motel rooms and camped out across the country, packing their lives into a car that would take them from the blank winters of their youth to where they would eventually complete their five-man lineup in California.

Meeting as teenagers in upstate New York, the members of Coast Jumper spent four years growing up together under the same roof, enduring the harsh winters, friendships come and gone, life. Sequestering themselves one winter in their dimly lit basement, Coast Jumper assembled the collage that is Grand Opening. Equal parts ambiance, aggression, harmony, and release, it's about lost loves but it's also about new ones. It's about finding purpose and meaning in something, but also becoming disillusioned with the whole damn thing. It feels like a bunch of kids growing into themselves. In that basement, they took an oath to never stop.

Coast Jumper is currently touring the West Coast.

Mr. Kind
Mr. Kind
Oakland-based Mr. Kind has drawn comparisons to the literate lyricism of The National, the collaborative studio spirit of Dr. Dog and the dynamic energy of Arcade Fire. Since the release of their first EP, OK (July 2012), the band has moved from raw, americana influenced rock to the more dense, electronic leanings of their recently released second EP, Mr. Kind (November 2013). The confessional lyrical style approach introduced in OK is evident as well ("Maliced Hearts" and "The Best I Can Do (Is Love You"), with additional inquiry and observations about living in a distracting and demanding contemporary society ("Patience" and "Don't Be The last One In").

The collaborative effort between the members of Mr. Kind has developed throughout the course of the two EPs, reinforcing a DIY and hard-working ethos central to the band's philosophy. Originally formed to perform the solo material of lead songwriter Brian Bergeron, he found an ideal collaborator in guitarist/producer Jon Devoto (ex-The Matches). The two have co-produced the majority of Mr. Kind's material at Devoto's studio, Dirt Room. Their collaborative recording series Mr. Kind & …, frequently pairs Mr. Kind with other bands to put their stamp on influential songs by bands such as Blur, Spoon, and The Postal Service. The pair has also recently produced video game music for a local non-profit journalism organization and have even tried their hand at artisanal soap making (really).
