Blue Light Curtain
Blue Light Curtain
Blue Light Curtain formed in the fall of 2002. The band consists of Paul Groth (Bantone Guitar, Vocals), Laura Bratton (Synth, Vocals) and Michael Sterling (Drums).

The band released their first EP in 2006 and supported it with a West Coast tour. In June of 2012, BLC released their first full-length release, Clouds in Our Hair, recorded by Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, et al.) Album available on vinyl and CD.

Groth and Bratton have been singing together in different projects for over 18 years, taking their vocal influences from dues like Sparhawk?Parker (Low), Shields/Buther (My Bloody Valentine) and Kaplan/Hubley (Yo La Tengo). The lyrics are simplistic and repetitive adding to the hypnotic musical drone. Sterling drives the group's dynamics by playing with and against synthetic pulses.

Blue Light Curtain has been playing in and around Seattle for the past ten years, appearing at the following venues. The Sunset Tavern, The Crocodile, The Chop Suey, The Comet, et. al. Over the years the band has played with national touring acts like Asobi Seksu, The Black Ryder, Blood Red Shoes (UK), Freezepop and Fog.

"Blue Light Curtain goes for the wall of sound approach, offering shimmering guitars, dense percussion and reverb-drenched vocals singing vague, repetitive lyrics." - Molly Templeton, Eugene Weekly

"There's a sense of majesty and mystery to Astral's monumental soundscapes that is actually quite rare among the current legion of American dreampop bands." - The Big Takeover

"...they're the essence of dream rock, stuck in the late 80s and playing their reverbed hearts out." - The Black and White Magazine
Tracing Figures
Tracing Figures
Sometimes pegged as shoegaze, "nu-gaze", and even "post-gaze", the four-piece alt-indie outfit Tracing Figures fancy themselves the more melodic, ethereal version of 90's alternative. Heavily influenced by the pop-tinged sounds of contemporary indie rock artists, the band is evocative of Blonde Redhead, M83, The Cure, and Autolux, with delicate vocals often layered upon soaring melodic guitars and a meticulous clockwork of real-time effects, soft-synths, and sampled vintage drum machines.

Founded in 2008 by guitarist Thad Baker (Anaura, Cinematic, The Strand), the band quickly found it's way to its current line up of musically diverse characters: Bassist Dean Faustman (Anaura, Thistle), vocalist Brianne Sherman (indie folk-rock scenes of Ashland, OR), and drummer Eric Bateman (Cynyc, also currently playing with Italo Disco outfit Easy Street). Together they have crafted a cohesive repertoire of gorgeous and invigorating songs that have captured the attention and excitement of music lovers across the Bay Area.

In the winter of 2011, Eric Miranda (vocals, synth and guitar) was writing a collection of melodic and dark songs best described as reminiscent of Early Cure, Joy Division and The Jesus and Mary Chain, based on personal reflections and life experiences. After working with a rotating cast of musicians, a series of events led Miranda to Josh Manion (drums), James Levis (guitar) and Peter Dosanjh (bass). Together they formed an intricate, detailed, layered sound that amplifies the dark and melancholic lyrics. Within one month's time they had a name, a complete set of original music, and had recorded, mixed and pressed their first collaborative effort in the form of a self titled EP.

In February 2012, In Letter Form almost came to a screeching halt when Miranda was severely injured in a motorcycle accident. Several screws, pins, plates, surgeries and only 3 weeks later, In Letter Form was back playing live in San Francisco.

In Letter Form continues to write, record and play shows in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. The band's is working on their first full length, expected to be released fall 2012.
