GrooveSession
GrooveSession
GrooveSession is a power trio out of Ontario, Ca. By every definition this band is sharing positive energy through music and dance. Great song writing and playing live is what these guys live for and it shows each time they take a stage. Building a reputation as the band that enjoys long sets with their fans fully engulfed and it doesn’t seem to matter the stage, room, club, sidewalk, parking lot, backyard or living room. GrooveSession brings a multi-genre blend of rock n’ roll that they call “movin groovin music” Hard working and easy going. A band with a brand and a sound on their quest to end the jammin famine. With hundreds of performances and opening for many of today's greatest bands such as The Funky Meters, George Clinton’s P-Funk, Little Feat, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, 7 Walkers, Greg Adams, Tea Leaf Green, The Radiators, Stanton Moore, Robert Walter, New Mastersounds, Railroad Earth, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Brian Jordan Band, Kim Manning, Ozomatli and many more...This trio made up of Sarven Manguiat on guitar & keyboards and Brothers Sanchez, Ronnie on bass & Manny holding down drums and vocals. Magical, professional and musical with the ability to make fire with music! Available NOW are 3 CD's on i-tunes & CD Baby. The "Memoirs of NIWA"Album and "Warriors for Peace & the Positive Movement"LP along with the 2008 release, “The Flying Burrito."
Afrofunk Experience
Afrofunk Experience
The Afrofunk Experience, winners of The NAACP Image Award's Outstanding World Music Album "Black President" and winners of The SF Weekly Music Award's Best International Act, have been the band behind Sila and the Afrofunk Experience from it's inception til 2010. Providing songs and "Killer Grooves" for Sila and The Afrofunk Experience and being dubbed "The Bay Area's Dance Kings" in the process. Home grown AFROFUNK. AFROBEAT. REGGAE, AND ORIGINAL BAY AREA FUNK" The ensemble's well-balanced instrumentation of dual guitars, bass, drums, percussion, and up to a trio of horns ensures a wide dynamic range. Band co-founder, and bassist Wendell Rand (Pleasuremaker, Tracorum, Youssoupha Siddibe), leads the cast off with his muscular, low end dance grooves. Tasteful, precise and very funky drummer, Paul Oliphant (Afrolicious, Will Magid, Yacouba Diarra), are serious studies in afrobeat/afrofunk and Jazz and rock drum work. Guitarist David James (Beth Custer), former six-string slinger for the Coup and Michael Franti's Spearhead, brings his explorative, sinewy, rhythmic approach to counter guitarist Ken Houses' (H. P. Riot, Wade Love Band), chunky funk rhythms and funk metal solos that recall the heyday of Parliament-Funkadelic. Saxophonist David Boyce (Broun Fellinis, Ronkat Spearman), trombonist Alan Williams ( Manicato, Ronkat) and trumpeter , Will Magid, (Solomon Burke, Baba Ken Okulolo) also "evoke powerful touchstones, from classic Wailers to Ethiopian-style R&B of the early '70s. AFE would like to introduce dynamic and powerfully sultry, lead vocalist, Sandy Tili (Wade Love band) There's a deep soulfulness here and the implication of cross-cultural solidarity."
