Vinyl & Special Guests

The infectious music of Vinyl blends old-school funk, Latin percussion, reggae and R&B into signature instrumental grooves.
Vinyl's live shows are notoriously high energy dance parties that unite fans of many musical styles. Originating in the San Francisco Bay Area over eight years ago, Vinyl has become as tight a seven-piece ensemble as can be found in today's music scene. The players have a keen understanding of each other's musical expression resulting in a cohesive and adventurous sound that offers tasteful improvisation combined with a fortified, rhythmic backbone.

Lebo (ALO) with Bo (New Monsoon)

Lebo (Dan Lebowitz), a founding member of ALO (Brushfire/Universal Records), tours the world playing guitar, lap steel, pedal steel and singing. When not working with ALO, he can be seen performing with one of his bands (magicgravy, Trio Lebo) or working on recording projects in his San Francisco studio, Leboland.

Kiyoshi Foster (Animal Party)

Modern rock is getting good in San Francisco these days. With the rise of Big Light, The New Up, Sean Leahy Trio, Blisses B and a handful of others, there’s a nostalgia free but classically informed rock movement afoot, where the skill level is way beyond what we’re hearing in most Pitchfork/blog approved buzz bands, not to mention a real sense of hooks and groin level fun that’s missing from a lot of contemporaries. Add Animal Party, the stomping good new band helmed by DI fave Kiyoshi Foster.
