The infectious music of Vinyl blends old-school funk, Latin percussion, reggae and R&B into signature instrumental grooves.

Vinyl's live shows are notoriously high energy dance parties that unite fans of many musical styles. Originating in the San Francisco Bay Area over eight years ago, Vinyl has become as tight a seven-piece ensemble as can be found in today's music scene. The players have a keen understanding of each other's musical expression resulting in a cohesive and adventurous sound that offers tasteful improvisation combined with a fortified, rhythmic backbone.

Modern rock is getting good in San Francisco these days. With the rise of Big Light, The New Up, Sean Leahy Trio, Blisses B and a handful of others, there’s a nostalgia free but classically informed rock movement afoot, where the skill level is way beyond what we’re hearing in most Pitchfork/blog approved buzz bands, not to mention a real sense of hooks and groin level fun that’s missing from a lot of contemporaries. Add Animal Party, the stomping good new band helmed by DI fave Kiyoshi Foster.
Sean Leahy
For the past ten years Sean has been a notable fixture in the San Francisco music scene, logging in well over 1000+ shows with a wide variety of artists, including several National and European tours.Playing many sold out shows at such prestigious venues as The Warfield Theater, The Fillmore, The Great American Music Hall and Slim`s have fine tuned his live performance skills into nothing less than those of a world class pro! The list of local bands he`s played and recorded with reads like a who`s who list of the San Francisco music elite including such artists as The Marginal Prophets, Four Year Bender, Kofy Brown, London Street, Guitarmageddon, Ronkat Spearmen, Hot Jonny, Bohemian Knuckle Boogie, PI, Idiot Box, Trevor Garrod, Red Archibald, and was a co-founder of Boomshanka who achieved noteworthy independent success. In addition he has been a frequent guest of such artists as Tea Leaf Green, Animal Liberation Orchestra, Samantha and The Ritual and has the honor of jamming with heavyweights such as Les Claypool, Eric McFadden, Skerik, Vince Herman, Merl Saunders and Mark Karan.

It was artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, and Angus Young who inspired him to pick up the guitar but after 20 years as a musician he has learned to welcome influence from all areas of life, realizing that being a patient listener and trusting your instinct is the way to find your sound.
