Minor Birds
Minor Birds
Chelsea and Joel have been playing music together in different capacities since 2004, but after a series of tragic events in 2008, followed by an almost year long dry spell, their thoughts and talents took shape as Minor Birds. The relationship these two have is very honest and open and it comes across in the music. Joel writes the lyrics as poetry and Chelsea creates the melody and sets them to music. It is a very organic way of working together to create the sound and feel they want to capture in every song. Minor Birds pull influences from everything they encounter. They do not set out to copy or tweak any one sound, but seek to create original compositions that build and amplify the mood. Their music is not made to fit into any one sound, but to convey the emotion of the moment.

Once in every while an artist comes around that is seemingly as fresh, bright, and delicious as an apple picked right off the tree. Void of any obvious imperfection, unmarred by worm holes or lack of sunlight, the apple materializes with such beauty and vitality that one cannot suppress the urge to taste.
This apple is Kat Jones taste, you must.
Kat is a singer/songwriter from Fresno, California. A strikingly soulful voice coupled with a talent for writing songs with aesthetic maturity both musically and lyrically, suggest years far beyond her own, and explains why her career thus far has yielded much merited attention.
In 1996, while interning under Peter Wolf at Wolf Sound Audio Engineering in Fresno, Kat began to explore her musical giftedness and passion. She sat in on every bands recording sessions, took singing and guitar lessons, and within the year, had performed for the first time in front of an audience of 500. Now, several nationwide tours, one full length album, many ep's, and several demos later, Kat is releasing her second full length record, "I Am Warm, Young, Blood." as a follow up to her critically acclaimed album "La Rosa, La Calavera."
The album, which comes a distant 6 years after the release of her previous album is a lush expression of post apocalyptic loss, anger, wrestling with things one can not control, complete with anthemic decisions to survive against all odds. Distinct and creative instrumentation exists not only in and of itself as an artistic expression, but to offset and highlight the artists captivating and deeply powerful vocals. The result is 10 tracks of haunting infusions that will rile your soul.
"I want the album to make people think. I hope they can relate to it and that it ends up being more than just another record but becomes a part of their lives."
There is no sin in partaking of this apple. So go ahead give in. This Kat Jones album will be available nation wide in 2012.
