NATIVE MELODIES with a set dedicated to Talking Heads

Naive Melodies was formed in 2011, honoring, interpreting, and performing music created by Talking Heads.
CRITICAL MEASURES

Critical Measures blend original funk with visions of fury from the past. Bass and Drums provide the solid foundation for this tight group from Northern California. Busy in the California jamband circuit over the last few years, CM started as a trio but have grown to upwards of 7 players. Bringing a blend of original grooves spiced up with traditional New Orleans funk. The group is known to cover Herbie Hancock, The Meters, the JB’s and more.
Critical Measures main line up consists of guitarist Todd Bugbee, drummer Sean England, Ryan Newman(Groundation) or Ben Burleigh on bass. Humboldt County musicians Chris Noonan and Brian “Swiz” Swislow (Moo-Got-2, Afromassive).
"Critical Measures plays an exhilarating blend of world party music infused with a one-two punch of vivacious modern jazz and scorching blues. The group starts off with a tight 4/4 beat, a sultry riff, and a bouncy bass groove and then proceeds to steer their funkadelic starship into warp drive, nimbly traversing across galaxies of highly danceable and head-nodding goodness."
- Allen Amundsen, Eureka Times-Standard (Jun 04, 2009)
