While Indigo Elephant began as a one-off performance for a 2018 talent show, it quickly turned into a long-lasting ensemble for thoughtful, genre-crossing indie tunes. The Oakland-based band has since grown into a dynamic act, defined by their emotional clarity and melodic instincts. Whether playing to intimate rooms or large festivals, Indigo Elephant blends the raw honesty of indie rock with the smooth textures of indie pop, drawing comparisons to acts like Wallows, Men I Trust, Last Dinosaurs, and The 1975.
Their upcoming single, “Don’t Wanna See It (feat. Mare),” drops July 18th. The track explores the heartbreak of watching someone you care about spiral out of control, backed by shimmering synths and yearning harmonies. Prior to that, they released their standout 2023 EP While We Were Away, a nostalgic and emotionally textured project that marked a turning point in the band’s evolution.
Indigo Elephant has built a strong live reputation through heartfelt, high-energy performances across the Bay Area and Northern California. They’ve supported internationally touring acts at Café Du Nord in San Francisco, and headlined shows at iconic venues including 924 Gilman, Brick and Mortar, and the Ivy Room.
Festival appearances include the Davis Cherry Blossom Festival and Whole Earth Festival. The band has also brought their music to the airwaves with live performances on 90.3 KDVS and 92.9 KPCR, and was featured in the Davis Enterprise for their impact on the local scene.
